Toronto, January 18, 2017 – Environics Analytics (EA), one of North America’s leading marketing and analytical services companies, has named the Toronto Police Service (TPS) its Client of the Year for 2016. The honour was announced at EA’s Tenth Annual User Conference, where EA President and CEO Jan Kestle praised TPS’s “data-driven approach to evaluating and delivering services to keep the community safe,” said Kestle. “Their leveraging of data and analytics is strategic, supported at the highest level and very innovative.”

TPS, which has collaborated with EA for the past year, utilizes a number of EA offerings to improve the delivery of its services, including demand modelling and forecasting, territory optimization, segmentation and training. The organization also used advanced data analytics to create a series of planning and analysis tools that allowed TPS to evaluate and strategically deploy staff and services at the neighbourhood level. “These models forecast the demand for police services at a small-area level while accounting for Toronto’s changing population,” said Kestle. “We commend the Toronto Police Service for their advances and continuing to build expertise in analytics.”

In announcing the Client of the Year award, EA’s Kestle recognized Ian Williams, Manager of Business Intelligence & Analytics at TPS, for his leadership in bringing advanced analytics to the organization. “We’re honoured to be selected by Environics Analytics as its Client of the Year,” said Williams. “We are using data and analytics to help us better understand our neighbourhoods which will enhance our relationships with residents so we can deliver better service. As we modernize policing for the city of Toronto, we see the continuing value of this information.”

The Client of the Year award was presented at EA’s annual user conference, which this year attracted more than 500 participants representing a variety of industries as well as the not-for profit and public sectors. With a theme of “The Analytics Age: Building on the Foundation,” the day-long event featured 16 client case study presentations, a keynote address on “How to Be a Data Motivator,” and demonstrations of data-based business intelligence tools, such as EA’s popular PRIZM5 and ENVISION5.
