James Smith
Chief Compliance, Risk, and Privacy Officer
James Smith, in his role as Chief Compliance, Risk, and Privacy Officer at Environics Analytics, focuses on corporate matters of privacy, security, data governance, compliance, and audit requirements. With a blend of business acumen and a strategic grasp of technology, data, and analytics, James brings over 30 years of executive experience to the position. His expertise spans diverse industries including financial services, marketing, retail, loyalty programs, government and automotive sectors.
Before joining EA, James served as the Vice President of Data Strategy and Data Governance at The Marketing Store Worldwide, overseeing global initiatives. He holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Canadian Institute of Access and Privacy Professionals (CIAPP) and a Master Access and Privacy Professional (MAPP).
Additionally, he actively contributes to various industry bodies and committees, including the Canadian Marketing Association’s Privacy Committee, International Association of Privacy Professionals, Information Systems Audit and Control Association, The Canadian Anonymization Network, Privacy and Access Council of Canada, Brock University’s Centre for Business Analytics Advisory Committee and McMaster Advisory Group for Privacy Management.
